In the past 24 hours, Ukraine has conducted a series of deadly aerial attacks on targets in southwestern Russia, according to Russian officials.
The Russian Ministry of Emergencies has confirmed that, as a result of these attacks, 14 people, including two children, lost their lives, and dozens more were injured in the city of Belgorod.
A Ukrainian security source, when questioned by the BBC, claimed that Kyiv launched 70 drones against Russian military targets and blamed Russian air defenses for the fragments that impacted Belgorod. This attack is presented as one of the most lethal carried out by Ukraine against Russia during the course of the war.
Moscow has repeatedly accused Ukraine of carrying out drone attacks on its territory, although Ukraine has not taken responsibility for such attacks. The recent events follow Russian attacks on Ukraine last Friday, which resulted in the death of 39 people, according to statements from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
